Episode #101: Simplify Your Business with Brinie
A business podcast for time-poor mums running passion-fuelled businesses. Bite sized business tips designed to empower and educate to help you stay focussed on your big dream and make your business life simpler.
Hey, everyone! I’ve been off for a couple of weeks because I completely lost my voice—yes, it was as dramatic as it sounds. My friends even called me just to hear me not talk! But now that I’m back, I’ve got so much more to share, and I’m excited to dive into this week’s episode.
Today, I’m here with a motivational message, and I want you to really listen: I see you. I see how hard you’re working, and I see how much you’ve accomplished—even if it doesn’t always feel that way.
And there’s a little secret that I need to share. A dirty, shameful secret that so many of us keep hidden—one that I bought into for years and that I see holding back even some of my most successful clients. Here it is: the feeling that we don’t have it all together.
No one does.
But so many of us feel like we should. This belief is what kept me hiding in the early stages of my business. I thought I was just this tiny operation compared to all the big players. And when people started coming to me for help, I couldn’t believe it. ‘Why are they asking me?’ I thought. But here’s what I learned—most people don’t have it all figured out. They’re winging it, just like I was. And they’re looking for answers.
So, if you feel like an accidental entrepreneur—like you’re hustling, your business is growing, but you’re overwhelmed—this episode is for you.
The Accidental Entrepreneur
Let’s talk about this concept for a second. Accidental entrepreneurs are amazing. They’re often the ones rolling up their sleeves and getting it done, but their businesses have taken off faster than they realised, and now they’re stuck in a cycle of always doing more. Sound familiar?
Your phone’s always ringing, your brain never switches off, and you’re juggling more than anyone realises—constantly creating new solutions, doing all the things—because that’s what you think you have to do.
But here’s the thing—you don’t need to work more to make more. And you’re definitely not alone.
It’s Okay to Ask for Help
I see it again and again: women who are growing these incredible businesses but are so overwhelmed, and they feel like they can’t ask for help. And why? Because they’ve been trained not to. People have minimised their success, referring to it as their ‘little business,’ making them feel like they shouldn’t take it seriously.
But I’m here to say: it’s okay to ask for help. It’s okay to want your life back. And it’s okay to want to streamline, simplify, and make more without sacrificing your sanity.
Work Less, Achieve More
I’ve worked with so many women who feel trapped, thinking, ‘I can’t keep this up. I need to find a way to work more hours, or I’m going to have to quit.’ But what if we flipped that? What if instead of adding more, we reduced the busy work and focused on high-impact activities?
You’d be amased at how much income you can bring in when you free up your time. It’s not about doing more work. It’s about doing the right work.
You Are a Boss
And lastly, if no one’s told you this yet today, let me be the first: you’re an absolute boss. I work with women who would intimidate anyone in a boardroom—but they don’t see it. They’re caught up in the day-to-day grind, not realising just how powerful they are. But I see you. And it’s time for you to see yourself that way too.
What to do
So, if you’re listening and thinking, ‘Maybe it’s time to ask for help,’ I’ve got two freebies just for you.
