Casting your Big Vision

Casting your Big Vision
Working with lots of business owners over the years, I have found the a large source of overwhelm and chaos stems from a lack of vision.
By this I mean, it’s easy to get lost in the details of your business. To become so immersed in the daily grind that you lose sight of the bigger picture.
Have you ever heard the phrase “You can’t see the forest for the trees”?
When you’re too close to your day-to-day operations, it’s challenging to picture your destination, what you are actually working towards, and to stay on the course.
Just like I have created a roadmap for you with this course, you are going to create a roadmap for yourself.
So, instead of focusing on each of the individual trees and all the pressing obligations that you have in your business (we will get to that I promise), this week’s task is to get clear on the destination and I invite you to take 5 minutes and cast your gaze beyond those trees, beyond the immediate challenges.
I want you to imagine your business 5 years from now.
* What does it look like?
* What goals have you achieved?
* What impact have you made?
* What does success mean to you? Have you made $X or do you only work a handful of hours?
It is this vision that will guide you through the forest, helping you navigate, prioritise, and stay on track.
THE EXERCISE
Here is a link to the google doc and I recommend setting a 5 minute timer.
I want you to write out your big vision.
- I recommend writing in the present tense (so don’t say “I will..” rather “We do this…” or “I now do this…”
Here are some things you might wish to include in your Vision, in no particular order: Size, products, shape, customers, key metrics, financial achievements, sources of revenue, staff, roles, leadership, leverage, market position, recognition (awards), media exposure, market share, expansion plans and exit strategy. Plus add descriptive words to express emotions. “I feel X” This is YOUR Vision, see it clearly and write it down!
Any questions at all simply let me know in the group (or via email)
